The additional 320,000 adults were recruited a year ahead of schedule.
The Department of Education recruited 320,000 adults into school support roles in the 2023-2024 academic year, exceeding President Joe Biden’s goal of 250,000 by summer 2025. These recruits have agreed to become tutors, mentors, school transition coaches, and other integrated student coordinators. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona made the announcement at the White House with Domestic Policy Advisor Neera Tanden.
“When young people have trusted adults who they can count on in their life, they’re more likely to do better in school. Their mental health improves. And they’re better prepared to pursue rewarding lives and careers in the future,” said Secretary Cardona. “To all the champions, partners, and leaders who’ve worked to make this effort a success: thank you. You show us every day what it means to strategically invest in our students.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Cardona to be prudent as he oversees the Department of Education.
- For wisdom for Advisor Tanden as she heads the White House Office of Domestic Policy.
- That the school staff recruits will be of maximum benefits to school students.
